SMCD Project for Third-Generation Semi Materials Launches in Nanjing

The so-called SMCD Project, an R&D center focusing on third-generation semiconductor materials, has officially set up in Nanjing’s Software Valley. The first registered company—Jiangsu Sangdesi Semiconductor Technology Corp. Ltd.—has secured the business license for the project, which has a total investment of 1 billion yuan.

The SMCD Project will also create a software development platform based on new hardware equipment and will set up a new semiconductor material application research center and MadeInNet electronic industry network service platform in the Software Valley.

China Electronics Technology Group Corp and the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Science will participate in the project operation. They will share responsibility for online and offline platforms and for helping commercialize the project’s technology and technical research findings.

Brivan Photoresist Project for LCD Panels to Start in Nanjing

Brivan has signed a contract to build its Electronic Technology Headquarters and Photoresist Research Center in Jiangning Development Area of Nanjing.

Investors in the project include Jiangsu Brivan Electronics, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry CAS, for a total investment of 600 million yuan. The project will establish a team focused on in-depth R&D for use of photoresist in high-end liquid crystal display (LCD) panels. Additionally, the project will found key laboratories and industry research institutes in conjunction with leading universities and scientific research organizations.

Founded in July 2014, Jiangsu Brivan Electronics develops and manufactures photoresist for thin-film transistor (TFT)-LCD color filters, and has successfully developed a series of photoresist products.
