GigaDevice Acquisition of Silead Conditionally Approved

The China Securities Regulatory Commission’s M&A and Restructuring Committee has conditionally approved GigaDevice’s acquisition of Silead via equity issue, cash purchase and fund matching.

In January 2018, GigaDevice announced it had acquired Silead for 1.7 billion yuan, and the purchase was conditionally approved in October 2018, with re-verification to take place in March 2019. The second conditional approval requires GigaDevice to further disclose the anticipated impact of pending litigation on the company’s operations.

Silead was founded in 2011, with a focus on development and sales of smart mobile terminal sensor systems-on-chip (SoCs) and solutions. This includes capacitance touch chips, fingerprint recognition chips, and emerging sensing and system algorithms. Silead is the domestic leading supplier of these chips for applications involving human-machine interaction.
