By 2025 28% of China’s Mobile Connections Will Run on 5G

According to a GSMA intelligence report released at MWC Shanghai 2019, by 2025, 28% of China mobile connections will run on 5G network and will account for one-third of the global 5G connection.

The report shows that Asia operators plan to invest $370billion between 2018-2025 to construct a new 5G network. By 2025, 24 markets in the Asia Pacific region are expected to launch a 5G network. It will bring about $900billion dollar to those areas in the next 15 years.

China is now testing 5G in its big cities and provinces such as Shanghai.

The report also shows:

  • From 2018-2025, operators will invest $574billion on a new network of which $370billion is earmarked for launching the 5G network. China is expected to invest $184billion dollar on 5G by 2025.
  • In 2019, 4G became the main mobile technology in Asia in 2018 (52% of total network connections), it will increase to about 67% of the whole connection amount by 2025, meanwhile, 18% connection will run on 5G network.
  • The mobile technology and service in the Asia Pacific region generated about $1.6 trillion, representing 5.3% of GDP. It is expected to reach $1.9 trillion by 2023.

Kongxi Communication Launches China’s first 5G NR RF Front-End Series Chip

At MWC Shanghai 2019, China radio frequency (RF) chip supplier Kongxi Communication Technology (Shanghai) Corp. (KCT) announced that it launched an RF power amplifier (PA) front-end chipset for 5G micro base stations (sub 6Hz). This is the first 5G NR RF front-end chip to be launched in China.

Compared with the traditional micro base station RF PA, the newly launched 5G new radio (NR) micro base station RF PA chip — KCT56228H — adopts new Delta RF structure, which can effectively reduce the cost of RF PA chip.

KCT offers a full series of RF chip design technology, including GaAs, SOI, CMOS, etc., it dedicates on researching each RF front-end integrated circuit such as Wi-Fi, 5G, IoT, etc.

Founded in 2014, KCT is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Grand Chip Microelectronics Co., Ltd (GCM). KCT delivers high-performance, high-efficiency, and highly integrated RF front-end IC products, as well as optimized RF plug and play solutions. Their products mainly apply to WLAN Infrastructure, Cellular Wireless Connectivity, the Internet of Things, etc.
