CISRI-Zhongke Expands SiC Project Investment to 1 Billion Yuan

CISRI-Zhongke, based in Qingdao, Shandong province is reportedly quickening the pace of development on its silicon carbide (SiC) development, with plans to ramp another SiC project into production this year.

Total investment in the SiC project is 1 billion yuan, with a construction area of 50,000m2. Production will center mainly on high-quality, large-size SiC crystal substrate sheets. Annual capacity is expected to reach 50,000 units of 4-inch SiC crystal substrate and 5,000 units of 4-inch high-purity, semi-insulator SiC crystal substrate.

SiC is a third-generation semiconductor material that exhibits excellent performance under high temperature, high pressure and high frequency. Suitable for automotive, railway, industry equipment, consumer electronics equipment, aerospace and other industries, SiC has become one of the most popular new semiconductor materials.
