Microsoft’s Biggest AI & IoT Lab Opens in Shanghai
Microsoft AI & IoT lab, a joint venture of Microsoft China and Zhangjiang Group, officially opened its doors to the first 30 companies on May 15.
China offers great potential for artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) markets. Members of the lab will push innovation, research, and industrialization of AI and IoT solutions and applications. It will focus on key areas such as AI, IoT technology and voice interaction, autonomous driving, smart medical, etc.
Microsoft has three additional such labs located in Seattle, US; Munich, Germany; and Shenzhen, China, The Shanghai lab the biggest of them all.
Changzhou Youfeng Microelectronics Project Completed
The completion and commissioning ceremony of Jiangsu Youfeng Microelectronics was held in Changzhou on May 15.
Total investment in this project will be 150million yuan. The company will import 1,000 advanced machines like dispense, molding press, etc. to be able to produce 12 billion chip diodes yearly.
Youfeng Microelectronics, founded in November 2014, is devoted to developing power semiconductor packaging and test solutions.
Secote Plans to Acquire Japan Optima
Secote announced plans to buy 20,258 shares of Japan Optima, owned by Kemet Japan, in a cash transaction totaling 16.4million yuan. It will crease Optima’s capital value to and will 72.84million yuan.
Optima develops, manufactures and sells semiconductor wafer inspection and exposure equipment. The company belongs to the same automation equipment R&D industry as Socote. The acquisition will broaden Socote’s portfolio of smart manufacturing and extend its product lines to high-end semiconductor inspection equipment, improving Socote’s technology and customers’ storage.
