ASMC Special Process Production Line Officially Launches
On March 30, Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. Ltd. (ASMC) announced that its special process production line has officially launched.
The construction for this project began in August 2018, and equipment move-in was completed in December 2019. The line is located in the Lin Gang Equipment Industry Area of Shanghai and has a total investment of 35.9 billion yuan.
The main goal of the ASMC project is to achieve a monthly production capacity of 60,000 units for the 8-inch production line and 50,000 units for the 12-inch line. The products will be mainly applied in areas such as industrial control, automotive, power electrical and energy.
5G Optical Communication Chip Research & Manufacturing Project in Guangdong Province
On March 28, the 2020 Zhongshan Investment and Economic Exchange Conference was held in parallel with the Zhongshan Talent Festival opening ceremony. At this ceremony, 41 projects were signed on, with a total investment of 27.2 billion yuan.
The 41 contracted projects include a 5G optical communication chip R&D project, TCL Zhuxi headquarters, Midea Electric Appliance Factory, to name a few.
The 5G optical communication chip research and manufacturing project is funded by Guangdong Haiyue Group and was jointly established with a Korean company. The total investment in this project is 250 million yuan, and its estimated annual output value is 400 million yuan. The project will implement Korean technology, mainly manufacturing 5G optical communication chips and products on 8-inch wafers and planar lightwave circuit (PLC) wafers.
In addition, the TCL Industrial Zhuxi headquarters construction project plans to build a high-tech industrial park integrated with research, production, and management. The focus of this project is on developing new business projects such as central business air-conditioning, LCD flat panel displays, and new semiconductor displays.
Joulwatt High-end Power Management Chip Project in Hangzhou
Joulwatt Microelectronics (Hangzhou) Corp. announced that its high-end power management global production and manufacturing base project was signed to settle in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The project will build a microelectronic research and manufacturing base integrated with high-end power management chip research, manufacture, sales and aftersales.
Joulwatt was founded in March 2013 and is headquartered in Hangzhou. It currently has branches worldwide dedicated to researching power-management chips. It currently produces battery management, LED lighting, and DC/DC converters, which are widely applied in such electrical equipment as mobile phones and PCs.
