In the past week, two groups announced their upcoming launches. At the IMPACT Summit, UniCloud announced its plans to build a digital engine for the chip industry. Additionally, the Spotlight Automotive project was officially launched by BMW Group and Changcheng Automotive. This project will bring the development of pure electric vehicles to China. Spotlight Automotive Project Launched in Jiangsu Province

On Nov. 29, the Spotlight Automotive project, which is jointly invested by BMW Group and Changcheng Automotive, was officially launched in Jiangsu Province.

This unique joint venture model will include research and development (R&D) and production of pure electric vehicles in China—the world’s largest pure energy vehicle market. It is expected that the MINI pure electric vehicle and Changcheng Automotive’s new products will also be produced here.

According to Guoqing Zhao, chairman of Spotlight Automotive, the joint R&D and production are the main focuses of this project. Based on the capabilities and resources of both shareholders, the group has a new business model of “Joint research and development, manufacturing in China and serving global customers.”

The total investment of the Spotlight Automotive project is 5.1 billion yuan, and the annual standard production capacity is around 160,000 vehicles. According to the development plan, the products will be added to the BMW Group and Changcheng Automotive sales and service network by brand.

UniCloud Plans to Build a Digital Engine for the Chip Industry

At the UniCloud IMPACT Summit on Nov. 29, UniCloud Technology announced its plan to build an industrial digital engine. With the increasing demand for computing resources with integrated circuit design, the “cloudification” of chip designs has become increasingly popular.

By partnering with internal chip design companies and partners of UniGroup, UniCloud will provide a one-stop chip cloud service platform that will enable it to build a digital engine for the chip industry. The digital engine’s core includes three parts: chip cloud platform, electronic design automation tools, and chip talent training bases (which comprehensively solve the chip design cloudification problem, tool problem, and talent problem).

Wu Jian, VP of UniGroup and president/CEO of UniCloud, explained that this industrial digital engine is UniCloud’s implementation of UniGroup’s “Core Cloud” strategy and will aid the country’s vigorous development of the digital economy.
